This is an advance route of Sunset Peak, it is longer then the classic route of Lantau Trail, but I still recommend this route as it can enjoy the scenery of Sunset Peak by different way.

Get off at Pak Kung Au
If you take the bus from Tung Chung, just walk toward left hand side, and follow the waysign of Lantau Trail to Sunset Peak

if you want to visit the summit of Sunset Peak, it needs to leave Lautau Trail, no official path for the summit provided, you can access the summit by different small trails, the most popular one is near the distance post L014, the left hand side will be the way to the summit

As stated above, there are tons of small paths to the summit, It is safe to walk back track to return Lautau Trail

The silver grass between autumn and winter is the icon of Sunset Peak

At this fork, walk to the path on right side to Yi Tung Shan

Yi Tung Shan, with the height of 749 meters, a “stone shed” on the top of mountain
Back track to the Lantau Trail afterward

At the fork near the distance post L011, turn left to Lin Fa Shan
The right hand side is the classic Lantau Trail

No official name for the trail in Lin Fa Shan, but the maintenance is as good as Lantau Trail, the path on right side to access the summit of Lin Fa Shan

Then walk down to the major trail to Pak Mong Village afterward

Turn left to Tung Chung

Into the tunnel, and walk around 45 minutes to Tung Chung
