Sunset Peak is the second highest peak in Lantau Island, with a height of 869 meters. Because of the silver grass in Sunset Peak, Sunset Peak is one of the most popular hiking trail in Hong Kong.

Lantau Trail section 2 is the most popular route to hike Sunset Peak. Tai Shek Ridge is the northern ridge of Sunset Peak, but the difficulty is much higher than the traditional Lantau Trail, Tai Shek Ridge is a less crowded alternative to access the summit of Sunset Peak.

From Tung Chung MTR Station, walk along Tat Tung Road, and turn left to Shun Tung Road

turn right after the police station

Walk to the footbridge

and turn left

Walk to the Tung Chung Road and turn right

Turn left to Wong Lung Hang Road

Move to the staircase on the left side

Turn left to Wong Lung Hang Road, it can finish the hike there

Descend to Lantau Trail

After meeting the Lantau trail
Turn right to Pak Kung Au, it is the fastest route to finish
In this blog, it will turn left and walk to Lin Fa Shan and Tung Chung

At the fork near the distance post L011, turn left to Lin Fa Shan
The right hand side is the classic Lantau Trail to Mui Woo

No official name for the trail in Lin Fa Shan, but the maintenance is as good as Lantau Trail, the path on right side to access the summit of Lin Fa Shan

Overlooking Pok To Yan

Turn left to Tung Chung and walk along the service road

Walk into the tunnel, and about 45 minutes to Tung Chung
